About Our Client

We are a publicly traded company in Korea managing a portfolio of three Marriott-branded hotels operated under a third-party management agreement and two full-service restaurants. With two additional restaurants in the pipeline, our organization is poised for growth in the hospitality and food service sectors. We emphasize a collaborative work environment, streamlined communication between our U.S.-based operations and HQ in Korea, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Job Summary

The HR Manager will oversee human resources functions across the organization, supporting approximately 140 employees. This role involves managing HR operations for our restaurant workforce, coordinating with third-party HR management company, and ensuring smooth communication with our HQ and external partners. The HR Manager will also play a key role in building HR frameworks for upcoming projects and expansion.

Job Description

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • 1. HR Operations:
  • - Manage day-to-day HR functions for restaurant operations, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, and onboarding.
  • - Liaise with third-party HR management team to ensure HR compliance and alignment with company objectives.
  • - Oversee HR support for restaurants in development, including hiring plans and staff onboarding.
  • 2. Compliance and Policy Management:
  • - Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and company policies.
  • - Collaborate with One Digital (third-party HR partner) to manage employee benefits, workplace compliance, and legal matters.
  • - Maintain and update employee handbooks and HR-related documentation.
  • 3. Employee Relations:
  • - Address and resolve employee concerns professionally and confidentially.
  • - Foster a positive work environment that aligns with company culture and values.
  • - Implement and manage performance appraisal systems.
  • 4. Strategic Planning and Reporting:
  • - Develop HR strategies to support the company’s growth, including talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
  • - Provide HR insights and analytics to support decision-making for leadership and HQ.
  • - Prepare and present reports on HR metrics and trends.
  • 5. Collaboration and Communication:
  • - Act as a primary HR liaison between U.S. operations, HQ in Korea, and external partners such as legal counsel and HR service providers.
  • - Ensure alignment in communication and decision-making processes across all stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • - Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industries.
  • - Strong understanding of U.S. labor laws and HR compliance.
  • - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in managing cross-cultural teams.
  • - Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • - Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • - Experience with third-party management agreements or similar operational structures.
  • - Familiarity with Korean business culture or ability to work with international teams.
  • - HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
  • Work Environment:
  • - This position operates primarily in an office setting with occasional site visits to hotel and restaurant locations.
  • - Travel may be required for meetings with HQ or project-related tasks.
