Job Summary

  • The Public Financial Reporting and Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing financial reporting, auditing, budgeting, accounting operations, and tax functions within the organization.
  • The role combines responsibilities related to public financial disclosures, internal and external audits, compliance with Korean accounting standards (Korean GAAP), and the management of accounting teams.
  • This position requires close collaboration with senior management, external auditors, and subordinate staff to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Job Description

  • - Prepare and review separate and consolidated quarterly and annual reports for filing on the DART system (Korean public reporting).
  • - Oversee the preparation of the quarterly earnings release for the Korean stock market.
  • - Ensure compliance with Korean GAAP and prepare technical memorandums to document accounting issues and resolutions.
  • - Communicate Korean GAAP-related issues and guidance to senior management, offering clear explanations on technical matters.
  • - Work with external auditors to ensure that DART filing financial statements align with auditing standards and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • - Set up cost accounting procedures in the ERP system based on Korean GAAP.
  • - Safeguard organizational assets by ensuring robust financial auditing and compliance procedures are followed.
  • - Investigate and report potential fraud, management overrides, and financial errors.
  • - Conduct financial risk assessments within the organization to ensure the safety and compliance of all financial operations.
  • - Perform analytical review procedures to ensure financial statements comply with IFRS standards.
  • - Ensure that all financial budgets align with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
  • - Prepare cost estimates, assess financial plans, and analyze variances between budgeted and actual financial data.
  • - Document and report financial discrepancies to leadership to improve budgeting and financial forecasting accuracy.
  • - Supervise the activities of the Treasury and Accounting/Tax teams, ensuring effective collaboration across departments.
  • - Assign tasks and responsibilities to accounting and tax team members.
  • - Review and evaluate the performance of subordinate employees, ensuring timely feedback and continuous improvement.
  • - Recommend hiring, firing, and promotion decisions for accounting staff to executives based on performance and operational needs.
  • - Oversee asset and grant management activities, ensuring proper accounting procedures are followed.
  • - Conduct internal inventory audits, monitor budget compliance, and ensure accurate monthly financial closing processes.
  • - Review inventory and accounts receivable valuations to maintain financial integrity.
  • - Prepare and organize documentation for external audits.
  • - Manage cash flow, monitor accounts receivable/payable, and oversee the process of cash disbursements.
  • - Ensure accuracy in the monthly closing process and manage company loans and guarantees.
  • - Prepare monthly financial plans and forecasts to guide the organization in strategic decision-making.
  • - Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, maintaining transparency and accountability in all treasury operations.
  • - Ensure the accuracy of month-end closing journal entries and cost accounting data.
  • - Manage site-specific financial reporting related to asset management, labor efficiency, budgeting, and inventory analysis.
  • - Collaborate with manufacturing and warehouse teams to review physical inventory counts and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • - Work closely with external auditors to validate physical inventory data and resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (AICPA or KICPA preferred)
  • - Proven experience in public financial reporting, financial auditing, budgeting, and cost accounting.
  • - Strong knowledge of Korean GAAP, IFRS, and Accounting (consolidation & financial instrument), treasury market and financial regulations,
  • - AICPA or KICPA preferred
  • - English & Korean bilingual required (fluent in reading, writing, speaking)
  • - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-financial stakeholders.
  • - Experience managing and mentoring accounting and treasury teams.
  • - Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
