Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer roles provide services for a rapidly growing multi-platform organization by building 2D/3D cad model of plastic/composite parts that mostly used in automotive industry. The engineer is a member of Opelika plant team.

Job Description

  • - Create and edit cad model of complicate shaped plastic/composite parts to be used for tooling and drawing.
  • - Defines, generates and interprets GD & T for 2-dimensional drafting.
  • - Generate comprehensive project drawings needed to engineer, validate, and construct bills of materials.
  • - Assure project deliverables are on time and maintaining high quality.
  • - Work alongside other program project staff (engineering, and sales) as well as with customer engineers to help accomplish and ensure set goals are met, schedules are maintained, and problems encountered are satisfactorily resolved.
  • - In addition, in meeting customer design requirement, work with internal manufacturing and quality team to understand product process and incorporate manufacturing feasibility constraint into the design.
  • - Determines scale, performs complex mathematical calculations, and prepares layouts for detailing.
  • - Maintains updated working knowledge of OEM product development processes related to CAD processes.

Qualifications

  • - Professional attitude and excellent communication skills with internal/external clients
  • - Must understood the background knowledge of mechanical engineering.
  • - Must compression molded plastic design experience.
  • - Preferred in experience in CATIA.
  • - Preferred in understanding of composite materials. (Thermoplastic, thermoset and so on)
  • - Familiarity with GD&T concepts and awareness of Automotive OEM requirements.
  • - Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • - High level of initiative and work well in a team environment.
  • - Ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction.
